Death

I stand
Unseen sometimes
Lurking in the dark corners
Holding a scythe at the sharp turns
Shrouded in black
As clock ticks along

I walk
Amidst laughter and joy
Waiting for the perfect moment
To capture the soul
Leaving behind
Faces all forlorn

I stay
By your side
As you find yourself soulless
Eyes blank and anguished
Deeply contemplating
Your way out

I sit
Holding your hand
As you sleep
Dreaming peacefully
Of years bygone
With a satisfied smile

Glasses

She felt an abandoned box brushing her fingers as she moved her hands through the loft. Curious, she decided to check the box leaving the cleaning for later. Heaving the ladder from her room she props it along the loft at her attic, with full of anticipation of untold stories and treasured memories. She pulled the heavy box closer to her only to be slightly disappointed at the sight of glass balls stacked together with names scribbled on them. A souvenir of sorts she thought. Nevertheless, she tries to pick one of them when it accidentally slips out of her hand falling with a crash! In a panic, she looks down towards shattering glass ball trying to save it, belatedly. But, instead she stood there startled, at the sight of a man not much older than her, stretching himself and rubbing his eyes as if awaken from deep slumber. She then heard his gruff voice as he said "I am finally free". With sleepy eyes he says "after years of being frozen, a glass of water is all I need". As he find her surprised face he quickly quips "your lips would do fine too my dear! You are the one I have been waiting for"
